Sonata Fibroid Treatment

The Sonata Treatment is an incision-free solution, clinically proven to reduce fibroid symptoms. This treatment can address a wide range of fibroid types, sizes, and uterine locations. Multiple fibroids can be treated during a single procedure.

The fibroids are treated from inside the uterus, so there are no incisions (which means no scarring), no tissue needs to be cut or surgically removed – and the uterus is preserved.

The Sonata procedure typically takes less than one hour, depending on the number and size of fibroids treated. On average, women return to normal activity in a couple of days. Most patients see improvement in heavy menstrual bleeding within 3 months..

Hysteroscopy

Hysteroscopy is a procedure that allows your doctor to look inside your uterus in order to diagnose and treat causes of abnormal bleeding. Hysteroscopy is done using a hysteroscope, a thin, lighted tube that is inserted into the vagina to examine the cervix and inside of the uterus. An operative hysteroscopy can be used to remove polyps, fibroids and adhesions.

Endometrial Ablation

Endometrial ablation is a procedure that uses heat, cold or different types of energy to destroy the lining of the uterus. If heavy periods are a problem, your doctor may recommend an endometrial ablation as an option to treat them. It’s less dangerous and has fewer limitations than a hysterectomy. However, many patients try medications to control their bleeding before having an endometrial ablation. After an endometrial ablation, you may have no bleeding, less bleeding or no change in your bleeding during your periods.

Myomectomy

A myomectomy is a procedure to remove fibroids (also known as myomas) from the uterus. Fibroids are growths made up of connective tissue and muscle cells. These growths can present as one or many fibroids growing inside the muscle of the uterus or even elsewhere in the pelvis. They are typically not cancerous. During myomectomy, fibroids are removed, and the uterus is repaired. After this procedure, you will typically have a normally functioning uterus.

Hysterectomy

A hysterectomy is the surgical removal of the uterus, and most likely, the cervix. Depending on the reason for the surgery, a hysterectomy may involve removing surrounding organs and tissues, such as the fallopian tubes and ovaries. The uterus is where a baby grows during pregnancy. It's lining is the blood you shed during your menstrual period. You lose the ability to get pregnant and you will not get your period after a hysterectomy.

Self-care is important.
